2025 Symposium Speakers

Dr. Yosi Adeoshun graduated from Lautech College of Medicine. She subsequently went on to the University of Surrey where she obtained a Master of Science with distinction in Toxicology. She did her internal medicine residency program at Meharry Medical College in Nashville Tennessee and obtained her fellowship in diabetes endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, Oklahoma. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in both internal medicine and endocrinology and is actively involved in both clinical and non-clinical endocrinology serving multiple roles. She is the founder and director of Endo Health Clinic, Viera, Florida and the director of endocrinology at Brevard Health Alliance (a federally qualified health clinic in Brevard County with 4 locations in the county). She serves as an assistant professor of Medicine at Burrell College of Medicine, Florida campus, Melbourne, Florida and as an independent medical reviewer (IMR) for the California Department of Managed Healthcare.

Katie Bakewell is a tenacious data scientist who serves as a Data Science Solutions Architect at NLP Logix, where she has been a pivotal member since joining as the second employee in 2013. Katie has led key projects supporting organizations including the Kids Hope Alliance and the Florida Poison Information Center Networks. She possesses extensive expertise across multiple industries, including human resources, financial services, and healthcare. Her accomplishments include the successful implementation of numerous machine learning projects in these fields. Katie holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and dual Bachelor's degrees in Math and Statistics from the University of North Florida. She and her husband, Sagara, live in Jacksonville, where they love to spend time on the beach, enjoy local restaurants, and enthusiastically support local sports teams (Lets go Jags, Icemen, Shrimp, and Sharks!).

Dr. Jaqueline Cain is a board-certified licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She has over 30 years of experience practicing Internal Medicine in a clinical setting as well as providing leadership to health services organizations for over 25 years. Her knowledge base is extensive, as she has experience working in positions that have required insurance policy expertise. As DME QIC Medical Director, she serves as the medical director supporting the CMS national contract.

Kynan Carver is the Cybersecurity Lead for Maximus Technology Consulting Services. He is a cybersecurity expert and leader with over 18 years of experience in the field. He currently serves as the Cybersecurity Lead at Maximus, a global provider of government services. Kynan has published several articles on cybersecurity topics, such as technical debt, agile methodology, and DevSecOps practices. He is also a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences, such as the Potomac Officers Club and MeriTalk. He is passionate about sharing his insights and best practices with the cybersecurity community and advancing the state of the art in the field.
Dr. Angie Eaton is a graduate of Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (TSUCOPHS). She completed post graduate Drug Information Practice Residency at Hoffman La Roche, Nutley, NJ. She is a Clinical Specialist and a member of the Harris Health System Formulary management team that provides evidence based research to support clinical decision making for the Pharmacy and Therapeutic committee. In the classroom, Dr. Eaton provides didactic experiences in the areas of drug information, emergency preparedness, clinical practice and pharmcotherapeutics. She currently holds the rank of full professor with tenure at TSUCOPHS where she has served 18 years. Dr. Eaton continues to practice community pharmacy at Walmart, Inc where she has served for 23 years as a relief staff pharmacist. Most recently, Dr. Eaton has joined Nexus as a clinical consultant.
Cris V. Ewell , PhD is a strategic and results-driven Cyber Security Executive with over 20 years of experience leading information security strategies across large, complex organizations with teams from 4 to 30. Adept at developing and implementing comprehensive security programs and frameworks, building consensus across business, information security, and technology teams, and providing expert guidance to C-suite executives and boards of directors. Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence, fostering a security culture, and mitigating risks by implementing current security technologies and standards.
Dr. Shawn Griffin is the first physician to serve as President & CEO for URAC – an independent, nonprofit accreditation organization based in Washington, D.C. URAC’s mission is to advance health care quality through leadership, accreditation, measurement and innovation. Dr. Griffin is recognized as a subject matter expert on population health, quality improvement, network development, clinical integration, ACO’s, incentive design, physician leadership development, and physician alignment. He has been a featured presenter for the National Quality Forum, HIMSS, the American Medical Group Association, AMDIS, CHIME and the American Medical Association. He was named by KLAS as a “population health all-star” and was a key developer of KLAS Population Health Framework for evaluating software and program capabilities and served on the KLAS Advisory Board.
Michael Haldas is an accomplished professional who more than 30 years’ experience in business, capture and proposal development. His areas of expertise include capture strategies and management, proposal management and support, and proposal writing. He has successfully supported clients in capturing nearly $140 billion in new business in every major health care agency including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Military Health System (MHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and National Institutes of Health (NIH).  
Mark Hiatt, MD, MBA, MS, has served as chief medical officer for a national medical benefits manager, patient insurance verification company, accreditation body, and biotechnology research company; senior vice president of market access and strategy and vice president of medical affairs for precision medicine companies; executive medical director for a multi-state health insurance plan; leader of a clinical department; board member for a blockchain company and regional health system; founding chief executive officer of a healthcare consulting firm; and cardiovascular radiologist. He was also the voice of The Medical Moment on radio stations in two states.

Matthew Katra is a Senior IT Specialist with over 25 years of experience in the IT field. Since 2021 Matt has been an Associate Director at Kyndryl specializing in VMware virtualization. Prior to Kyndryl he worked for IBM for over 20 years in various technical roles. At Kyndryl, he provides technical, security, and advanced troubleshooting assistance to clients around the world. He works closely with clients so they can build robust and secure VMware cloud solutions to meet business and technical objectives. Matt currently lives in Connecticut with his wife Pamela and 6-year-old son Nicholas. Outside of work, Matt has been the local Registrar of Voters since 2014 where he is responsible for all aspects of voter registration and running all elections within the Borough. He has used his extensive IT experience to modernize the voter experience.

Michelle Lopez is a member of the workers’ compensation team at Wright Welker and Pauole. Ms.Lopez regularly advises employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and claims adjusters regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Arizona and New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Act. Ms. Lopez is an experienced litigator with over 25 years of experience. She utilizes that extensive litigation experience to advocate on behalf of her clients in litigated matters before the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA) and New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA). Ms. Lopez’s current and former clients include Fortune 100 companies, Fortune 500 companies, school districts, mining companies, airlines, entertainment and film companies, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, construction companies, and transportation and trucking companies. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law. Ms. Lopez is admitted to practice before all state courts in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.

The Honorable Cheryl Mason began her journey in the foothills of Appalachia and overcame life’s challenges to become the first woman Chairman of the VA Board of Veterans' Appeals. Implementing her novel leadership style, she transformed a struggling federal agency into an efficient and innovative organization. This shift resulted in significant tangible outcomes for customers, elevated employee morale and retention, and improved the trust of customers and stakeholders. As a speaker and author, she inspires others by sharing her experiences of perseverance and leadership. At Catalyst Leadership Management, she provides consultancy and training services to advise and assist CEOs and companies on several topics including practicing relational leadership. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Ohio Northern University and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law. She is the spouse of a US Air Force veteran.

Tom Naughton has extensive experience in health care reimbursement, Medicare, Medicaid, workers’ compensation, state health care law, quality oversight, peer review and all forms of benefit disputes and dispute resolution programs. Mr. Naughton has testified in front of the United States Senate Finance Committee and various state legislative committees benefit appeal reform. He also served as a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of an independent medical review and provider payment dispute resolution programs. Mr. Naughton is the past President of Maximus Federal Health. Mr. Naughton was responsible for the management and performance of Maximus Federal’s largest book of business, which included benefit appeals and independent medical review services. His client base included more than 70 federal and state agencies. Mr. Naughton also managed large-scale federal customer call and processing centers.

Dr. Mary Pascucci is a multi-state licensed, board-certified Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Fellow of the College of American Pathologists with over 25 years of experience practicing medicine and providing leadership to health services organizations. She has extensive knowledge and experience working in positions that have required Medicare and commercial insurance expertise. As CERT Medical Director, she serves as the medical director and spokesperson supporting the CMS CERT national contract.

Madhu Reddiboina is the Founder and CEO of RediMinds, Inc., an AI engineering firm, which collaborates with and serves various industries, including Healthcare, MedTech, and Financial Services. Mr. Reddiboina is an active AI researcher, speaker, and an author of many scientific publications and NSF SBIR/STTR grantee. He has patents pending on applications of image processing, computer vision and 3D reconstruction technologies. His academic background includes an MS in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor's in Electronics and Communications Engineering.
Jenn Richards, PharmD, JD is a Director of Product Development at URAC where she is responsible for overseeing the development and revision of URAC’s standards and programs. She also oversees the volunteer pharmacy advisory group that assists URAC in defining best practices and quality standards. Jenn has pharmacy background in retail, prescription benefits management, specialty, compounding, and hospital. She has worked on many pharmacy improvement projects making large changes to organizational structures to provide better total patient care. Jenn has a Doctor of Pharmacy, received in 2011, and a Juris Doctor, received in 2015. Jenn is currently seeking a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Leslie Wagstaffe, JD, MPP, is currently the Director for the Consumer Support Group (CSG) in the Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  In this capacity, Wagstaffe is responsible for leading the development, implementation and execution of the policy, operational, and business requirements related to programs within CSG's functional responsibility, including special projects, budget, and procurement.  She also provides leadership and direction for constructive and responsible communication and effective collaboration with CSG partners, such as industry, other government entities, and consumer advocacy groups.  Additionally, Wagstaffe ensures that CSG provides CCIIO-wide leadership and advice on consumer-related private health insurance issues and serves as CCIIO’s focal point for consumer policy and services. Key initiatives within CSG’s purview include the oversight of Marketplace Navigator Grants and implementation of the Transparency in Coverage Final Rule and Summary of Benefits and Coverage. CSG also operates the Federal Independent Dispute Resolution process which provides a forum for providers, facilities, and health plans to use to resolve payment disputes for certain out-of-network charges. She earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. 
Ken Whattam brings three decades of specialized training and investigative experience with the Portland Police Bureau (OR), having retired as the most tenured member of the Detective Division, where he successfully managed hundreds of challenging, complex cases, as both a detective and a detective supervisor. Ken served more than 20 years investigating and supervising casework specialized in Fraud/White Collar Crime, Elder Crimes, Sexual Assault/Workplace Violence & Harassment, Missing Persons, Officer-Involved Uses of Force, Kidnapping, Assault, and Homicide. He has additional expertise in writing, reviewing and executing complicated search warrants, including the supervision of all detective homicide warrants presented to judges, as well as hundreds of hours of courtroom testimony. Just prior to his retirement from active, sworn law enforcement, he not only supervised the Homicide and Missing Persons Details, he also was responsible for overseeing the Forensic Technology Detail, giving Ken a unique, skilled perspective into digital technology as an investigative tool. 

Herb Williams is a Senior Enterprise Engineer at Arctic Wolf, the leader in Security Operations. He works with companies to help educate them on cyber risks and how they can better protect their organizations. He has over 25 years of experience in IT and has held several different positions over the years. He is passionate about technology and how we can leverage it. Herb earned a Master’s degree from Florida Tech and a Bachelor’s from Portland State both in Computer Information Systems. He has received numerous certifications from companies like VMware, Microsoft, CompTIA and Cisco.
